Sonia Puri , DVM

Dr. Sonia Puri was raised in Southern California, with a close-knit family consisting of her grandmother, parents, brother, aunts, uncles, and cousins. She completed her Bachelor in Animal Science at University of California, Davis. Following her undergraduate degree, she accepted admission to University of Prince Edward Island, Atlantic Veterinary College, Canada where she completed her degree in Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. During her clinical year, she studied Oncology at University of Pennsylvania, Emergency Medicine at Tufts University, and Internal Medicine and Oncology specialty at Animal Medical Center, New York.
Immediately after her veterinary training, Dr. Puri was matched in an Internal medicine and Surgery one-year internship in Akron, Ohio. She spent one year training under specialists such as Internal Medicine, Orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, Cardiology, Ophthalmology, and General surgery. After nine years of training, she returned to her home-town in California to begin her career in veterinary medicine. She began practicing Emergency medicine at two sister hospitals in Southern California where she worked overnights seeing 18-25 emergency cases per night.
Dr. Puri has a charming greyhound, Riley, whom she and her husband rescued in June 2015 from a racetrack in Florida.
