Transferring to Surgery

Since you will be consulting with our Surgery department today, we want to give you some helpful information to ensure your experience at CARE goes as smoothly as possible.

 

Today the surgeon will develop a treatment plan, which will outline any additional diagnostic testing and procedures needed, and will also include a cost estimate. All patients admitted to the hospital will receive a plan that includes the length of stay, and any changes in treatment plans will be communicated to you.

 

Once you have received your treatment plan it is our policy at Care Veterinary Center to collect a deposit for the services, which will be reviewed with you by one of our Client Care Specialists.

 

CARE accepts cash, check through global payment systems or Visa, Mastercard Discover or American Express. For your convenience, we also offer CARE Credit, which offers several repayment terms. You can apply online at carecredit.com or ask one of our client care specialists for assistance.

 

Following surgery, the surgeon will contact you to discuss the procedure and provide an update on your pet. Discharge generally occurs between 12:00pm and 6:00pm the day after surgery, unless otherwise discussed with the surgeon. Critical patients remain in the hospital longer than 24 hours. At time of discharge, you will meet with a technician to review take home instructions, medications to go home, and any necessary follow-up visits.

 

CARE visiting hours are 12:00pm until 10:00pm. We ask that if you plan to visit on the day of surgery that you come during evening hours. This will permit time for recovery from anesthesia, and will allow for the best visit with your pet. Please call the Client Care team with the time you plan to arrive to ensure that you are able to get the most out of your visit. Please be aware that you will not be meeting with the doctor at this time, however, one of our team members will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have.
