CARE Veterinary Center
Honored at Baltimore’s SmartCEO Fast-Growth Companies
2017 Future 50 Awards Ceremony

CARE Veterinary Center’s Dr. Kelly Gellasch, Dr. Stephanie Phillips and Becky Clawson were honored by SmartCEO in celebrating 60 of Greater Baltimore’s fastest-growing companies

Baltimore SmartCEO and Headline Sponsor Raskin Global honored the 2017 Future 50 Award winners at a Hawaiian themed awards celebration on January 19, 2017 at the Hunt Valley Inn. In all, 50 mid-sized Future 50 companies and 10 Emerging Growth companies were recognized in the program for their fast growth, determined by a three-year average of employee and revenue numbers.

CARE founders Kelly Gellasch, DVM, DACVS, DAAPM, and Stephanie Phillips, DVM, DACVIM, opened the doors to CARE Veterinary Center on November 1, 2010. They then acquired Frederick Emergency Animal Hospital in April 2013. The practice has grown from 15 employees to more than 70, a testament to the community’s need for the expert level of veterinary specialty and emergency services that CARE provides.

CARE Veterinary Center (CARE) is the only independently owned, multispecialty and emergency practice in the city and county of Frederick, Maryland. CARE provides big-city medicine in a small-town setting. Their team of board-certified specialists and experienced veterinarians work in collaboration with the region’s primary care veterinarians, delivering advanced care to diagnose and treat complex medical, surgical, or emergency conditions in companion animals. CARE currently offers specialty and advanced care in emergency, intensive care, pain management, radiology, sports medicine, rehabilitation, surgery and hyperbaric oxygen therapy chamber (HBOT the only one in Maryland).

Doctors Gellasch and Phillips have learned valuable lessons while leading a fast-growing company.

“Culture and communication is key to growth and success. We’ve spent the past year refining our communication and leadership habits to involve all levels of staff. At the end of 2015 we formed a Leadership team incorporating members from every department at all levels to bring each unique perspective to the table allowing for collaboration and effective implementation of new processes and protocols, improving communication, efficiency and client experience; and we’re looking forward to being better, faster and stronger than ever in 2017.”

CARE actively supports the Frederick community through ongoing participation in and sponsorship of numerous pet-related events and programs to raise funds for pet owners who cannot afford medical services for their pets.
