Adds GE BrightSpeed CT Scanner to Hospital

CARE Veterinary Center is proud to announce the addition of a GE BrightSpeed Edge 8-slice Computed Tomography or CT Scanner to its 24/7 specialty and emergency hospital.

Dr. Kelly Gellasch states, "The CT is a huge addition to our specialty practice and we are so excited to be able to provide advanced imaging for our clients and their pets"

CT scans are used in veterinary medicine to diagnose several conditions that are not visible through other modalities such as ultrasound and MRI. CT scans imaging uses a computer mapping system to generate a three-dimensional image as the patient lies in a tube-shaped structure.

“This is an exciting time for diagnostic imaging service at CARE Veterinary Center,” says Practice Manager, Becky Clawson. “Our GE BrightSpeed CT scanner complements our diagnostic imaging services that include radiology and ultra sound. With the addition of the CT scanner we will be able to identify and treat cases that may have required more invasive procedures to diagnose.”

CARE Veterinary Center (CARE) is the only independently owned, multispecialty and emergency practice in the city and county of Frederick, Maryland. CARE provides big-city medicine in a small-town setting. Their team of board-certified specialists and experienced veterinarians work in collaboration with the region’s primary care veterinarians, delivering advanced care to diagnose and treat complex medical, surgical, or emergency conditions in companion animals. CARE currently offers specialty and advanced care in emergency, intensive care, pain management, radiology, sports medicine, rehabilitation, surgery and hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT the only one in Maryland).

CARE actively supports the Frederick community through ongoing participation in and sponsorship of numerous pet-related events and programs to raise funds for pet owners who cannot afford medical services for their pets.
